The New Way of Gaming

My presentation was on the Xbox 360 Kinect. This is a new technology released by Microsoft. Kinect allows you to play games on the Xbox without any controllers. It senses your motions and you character on the screen does the same. Say if you were playing a fighting game, you would actually have to kick and punch to fight the guy on the screen. Kinect also has a camera inside, so when you are playing, it will take action shots, and you can also have a live chat with other friends that have Kinect. This is a major upgrade from the Wii and will be more popular.

This technology is important, because it will change the way of gaming. Instead of sitting on the couch and just using your fingers to mash buttons, you have to get up and be the character. Like in the game “Kinect Sports.” This will keep people in better shape and help them not be so lazy.

Kinect will impact the culture and the way we live by making people get up and get active and not be so lazy. It will also be a better way of communicating with others. It could also be used for education. If someone was sick, then they could turn there Kinect on and still be able to learn. That involves schools to get them into their classrooms. This could also be put in classrooms, so that schools can communicate with each other. For instance, if there was a class in the United States and a class in China, they could talk to each other and see the way that people learn in other countries.

Kinect can also be used for government and politics. They could have a Kinect hooked up to the TV, making it look like a gaming console, but it actually be a security camera. It could also be used as a practice for public announcements, so they do not mess up in front of the country.

By listening to presentations about gesture based computing, I think that the world will be very different in the upcoming years. Everyone will be using gesture based computing in there homes, work places, and as protection devices. With the “Home Automation” system you can be anywhere and cut off a light, lock the doors, and let people inside when you cant get to your house right away. Gaming will be different with the Xbox Kinect and games like "Kinect Sports". There is also a technology that you wear gloves and it tells you what to do with that item. This technology is called MIT “Clown Gloves”. There are also new ways of transportation. It is called Terrafugia. This is a vehicle that looks like something out of a James Bonds movie. It is a mix between a car and a plane. It is more fuel efficient and twice as fast as a normal car. This will be the transportation in the future. In the next few years, our lives will change, using the new technologies that we never thought were possible.

The Future of Technology

1) The holographic laser projection technology is a new technology that introduces the use of projecting, what you would see on a computer monitor, on to any flat surface. This is a much easier way to access the Internet, without having to use a monitor, keyboard, or even a mouse. This great new device is about the size of a canned drink, it comes in various colors, it also can change the size of the projected computer. You could make this computer cover an entire wall or just to project the size of an ipod. Which is why i would encourage anyone wanting a more sufficient computer to buy one!

2) This great new technology is so important due to the fact that the use of computers, Internet, and projection is all becoming used world wide. Everyday people world wide use some type of technology, whether its a cell phone, car, or an ipod. Many people may not know it now, but the world we know today is run by technology. Without technology the world would never keep inventing new technologies, meaning we would be stuck with the same devices, and technologies.

3) Technology affects our culture and how we live. For example now in time when we get home we have to flip the sink, light switch on. In in a very short amount of time we will pull in the drive way walk inside and just have to say turn on the lights and automatically the lights would turn on. Also another way that our culture has come so far with the invention of technology goes all the way back to the first invention of lights. So as you can see for hundreds, even thousands of years our culture has developed so much.

B.) The United States government has grew with the development of technology. In the past years if some one stole money from a bank then they would post Wanted signs all over the town. Now the government just posts a add on the television shows like Walb news, America's most wanted, or even just during commercials. Technology has also helped the Government help lower crime rate as well to catch the past criminals. Satellites allow the United States government to track down criminals using GPS systems. Why? There is some form of GPS system in most cell phones, cars, computers or even ipods.

4.) In the future I believe that the United States will be using computers just like the Holographic Laser Projection Technology. This great new technology will help not only the Government as well as the everyday person. The Holographic Laser Projection technology allows the government to make an ordinary size picture of something or someone to magnify to life like quality. This is beneficial to the police departments, whenever they cannot find a clue on how to find a criminal that might have stole something. The Holographic Laser Projection Technology also helps the common everyday person. For example instead of spending tons of money on gaming systems such as the WII, you can just buy the Holographic Laser Projection Technology. It not only will project the game to life like size, it also tracks your motions to make it just as if you were playing the actual game. Another way one might enjoy this technology is because it is so minute and transportable. It is about the size of a canned drink. After you have gotten your (HLPT) set up on a flat surface, you can then turn it on and treat it like a regular touch screen computer. So as you can see the Holographic Laser Projection Technology is going to be a great success in the future.

The Future of Technology

My technology presentation was about a new flying machine being created by

NASA. It is a one person flying suit nicknamed the puffin. This flying suit is
combining the technology of an airplane and a jet pack. the suit will be powered
and fly similar to how airplanes fly. It is designed to be powered by electric motors
so it will be quiet and efficient. the flying suit will most likely be used for military and rescue purposes. This suit was designed by and introduced by Mark D. Moore, a worker at the Langley Air force Base. The suit will be 12 feet in length and a total wingspan of 14 feet. It will weigh about 300 pounds.

This technology is important because it can improve transportation and rescue methods. the flying machine will first be used for rescue and military purposes, which will save a lot of lives. It will improve transportation because it will cause less traffic and easier transportation.

This technology will impact us in many different ways. It will impact our culture because instead of cars people will be flying from one place to another instead of driving. it will change how we live because traveling will be a lot easier. people will not have to pay as much money for gas. this creation will ultimately lead us into more advanced flying machines such as ones that can carry more than one person. because of this invention, we will be lead into a world of flying instead of driving. it will ultimately impact the government and how they work.

This invention will impact the government in many different ways. One way is that thee government will start using these machines for more dangerous reasons, which will save a lot of peoples lives. It will change how government officials use transportation, so they are able to get to important events quicker. Ultimately the government will figure out how to use these flying machines to be able to help the government and make it run smoother. It will allow guards and secret service to protect government officials because of the Puffin. It could help with video surveillance. It would affect everyone including the government.

In the future I predict that this machine will eventually wipe out cars and change every

ones method of transportation. it will lead us into the flying age, where everybody will be flying in these machines instead of driving cars. their will be bigger flying machines that can hold either 2 or 50 people. airplanes will be vastly changed because of the way they are powered. it will save gas and help the environment. airplanes will start to be self operated instead of having a pilot. these machines will also start to have GPS systems in them. in they will also have televisions in them and maybe even computers. these machines will change how everything is done and will eventually lead us into different varieties of flying machines. it will change military uses. instead of sending soldiers on dangerous missions they will send the Puffin. it will change medical uses, it will allow ambulances to be faster which will save lives. it will increase law enforce. the Puffin will ultimately involve 3D, but that is far from being created. the Puffin will help every bodies daily lives, by allowing people to get to places faster . It will help safety because their will not be any automobile accidents.

1. These clown gloves may look fancy, but actually there just regular gloves. they are completely useless without a camera the camera runs a hi tech program that can be used in a virtual reality program.and if you watch the video in my slide show. it demonstrates that they can also be used in everyday life to avoid painful mistakes or “awkward moments on the dance floor”. These gloves are the first motion sensing technology that doesn’t have sensors on your hands. the draw back to these gloves is that the camera must always have a clear line of sight to the gloves. Which implies that in the future there will be cameras in every room. a system like this can be used to help avoid everyday mistakes in life.

2. This technology is important because simple mistakes that people make everyday can be avoided to make our quality of life better. With motion tracking technology such as these gloves. Life as we know it will change in the near future.
3. A)Life as we know it will change. Humans will wear gloves like these or have microchips or tattoos on their hands that will let cameras know who is doing what and making documentation of what each person is doing. That way the computer can correct them through a speaker in the ear. This is borderline madness as the computer will (and already does) control our lives. The system could possible be hacked to. and resulting mayhem wood occur if the computer started giving out false instructions. I predict these things to eventually happen, But for right now I don’t think America has the technology funding or cooperation.
B) While the computer documents all actions, it also provides info the the police and the government if any crime is committed. With cameras everywhere that pick up the gloves/tattoo/microchips there will be no were to run or hide in America.as a result people will commit less crimes and resist getting a microchip in there hands that can be tracked. Something about human nature always wants to be free and independent. Riots wood result from a law forcing people to get a tracking/documenting device. So i predict a system of this type wood be strictly voluntary.

4. I learned that the Bumptop is the future of touch screen computing. with its classy and fancy look and endless amount of uses, the Bumptop should catch on very quickly for those that can afford it. the Xbox Kinect ‘is the future of gaming. similar to the Wii in that it tracts your motion on the video game. but the Xbox Kinect does not Require sensors on your hand. it tracts your hand motions with a high tech camera. the future of TV is in holographs. Its not 3d TV its better. Its its a pop up lifelike image in your room. The air port baggage check is very frustrating. they often open the bag and search it but with Transition by Terrafugia, are the future of transportation. It is basically a road-able aircraft. with these type of vehicles traffic jams will become far less frequent, but air collisions may result. The Future of Technology

1. Bumptop released the new 3d multi-touch desktop that combines the look of a 3d background with your touch screen computer. It lets users organize their files and photos easier, makes folders easier to access, and is an advanced categorizer. It also makes it easier to upload photos to Facebook, Twitter, and other social sites. Its touch screen is more advanced than others because it lets you use more than two fingers while moving something or organizing it. Though it is no longer available for purchase because Google bought it out, it is still a great advancement in touch screen computer technology.

2. This technology is important because it shows that 3d technology is becoming more important in our world, and that it is just not something to watch movies in. It is also more important because it has advanced the “touch” screen world, in the way that you can use more than two fingers when you touch the screen.

3a. It will affect our culture because we will be turning to 3d and holograms soon in our everyday lives, whether we like it or not. Also, we will be converging more appliances like Bumptop did with their 3d technology, the touch screen technology, and their computers. For instance, sooner or later our walls will have computers projected onto them, and we will have to learn to use the wall as a touch screen computer and maybe even as a television. Our culture will be revolving around the digital world sooner than we know so we have to learn to use appliances like this one to get ready for it.

3b. It will affect government and politics because this will help them in their campaign for

becoming elected. They will have to learn to use these types of computers so that they can reach our voting population so that they can be elected. Facebook and Twitter is easier to access with BumpTop because they are right on your home screen. The candidates will be able to upload pics and send their info out more quickly and to a wider audience faster. Also, they might have to start typing their info about their meeting with other candidates and delegates on the computer.

4. The future will be revolving around computers and bringing the digital world into a reality.We will use computers in about everything including vehicles, TV’s, and many other appliances. The future includes holograms that are already being used at the ESPN studio, flying suits for a person, and motion censored devices like the X-Box project Natal, which allows you to play games without a controller or anything special on. Computers will be used to turn off devices in our homes including lights, computers, and televisions by using the x.10 home control system. Our television will not be played in just boring, old 2d either. It will be played in the new 3d version, which requires you to wear special glasses to view it. We will also be putting projectors into different devices including phones, like the LG Projector phone, computers, and other electrical devices. We will start using voice activation for computers too. You will be able to talk to the computer and it will do whatever you say or type whatever you say. Our cars will be different in the future. They will converge with another type of vehicle like the Transition by Terrefugia, which converged a car with an airplane.

Technology is no longer simply on your computer. Augmented Reality is the combination of concrete reality with the virtual world. AR is so advanced that, in the near future, cameras will be a thing of the past because, all a you will need is your hands to take stunning pictures and upload them to your favorite social sites, or even upload home videos to youtube.com. AR Technology will change the future of our world. The ability to use technology to do anything, anywhere is what AR is all about. AR prevents people from becoming “a machine in front of a machine” and allows them to combine their life on the Internet with reality.

Augmented Reality will forever impact the culture of the entire world. It will connect people like never before and allow them to access the internet anywhere, anytime. Augmented Reality is the future of our culture, because it enables our generation's obsession with sharing our lives through social sites and media.

The Future of Media

Through a AR camera a person could take a picture any moment in their lives. Imagine being stopped at a red light and, all of sudden, you see your dream car pull up beside you. What was the make and model?! Well, through AR, all you have to do is frame the car with your fingers, taking a picture, which is sent through a wireless router to your home computer. When you get home, you can easily click on the picture and be directed to the company's web site. After you have looked up that Ferrari you can post on your facebook that you are considering buying it... If the price is right. Think this kind of technology is impossible? You would be surprised! MIT graduates have already created a gesture based camera and we already have wireless routers! Seems the future isn't as far off as some would think!

You might remember, a couple of years ago, hearing about "pen cameras" in the Middle East. These were not merely stories. Many people were using these tiny cameras to document police brutality then posting the videos and photos on twitter.com. Because of this, many people found with cameras were persecuted whether they possessed these "pen cameras" or simply needed something to write with. Imagine how easy it would be to make a simple, discreet gesture and capture breaking news anywhere.

Perhaps this would change the way politicians behave in public, knowing their every moved could be being filmed, without their knowledge. This, however, presents another problem. The current law allows someone to take your photo if you do not ask them to stop, If you didn't know you were being filmed, how could you know to ask the person to stop? AR would definitely have an effect on copyright laws as well as maybe even the creation of new laws as well.

Gesture Based AR Is the Future

This past week, each person in our class found a piece of new or emerging technology that realizes the convergence of several other kinds of technology. They described what technologies all combined to create their gadget. The most common theme of all in these presentations was gesture based computing. I believe this is a huge step in the technological age.

First it was screens and keyboards, then touch screens, and now with AR neither is needed! To be able to combine our natural life with our social sights and media is amazing. Through the presentations I have learned that not only is gesture based AR an incredible possibility it is occurring right now! AR is no longer a "hopefully", it is a "definitely."

Our country needs to foresee future problems that gesture based AR could bring up and create laws accordingly, before it becomes a problem. Some gesture based technology is already in motion like mgestyk. Eventually most of the things we own will be somehow related to gesture based computing. Think about touch screens. Just a few years ago you could hardly find them. Now touch screens are on ipod touches, cell phones, cameras and computers! In just a few years touch screen technology took the world by storm. Now it is gesture based computed and AR's turn. It is time for us to stop seeing the present and look into the future: Augmented Reality.

Voice Activation is a system that is voice activated and does is controlled by the sound of your voice. There is many types of voice activation systems, such as voice activated lightening, air condition system, and computer\ technological systems. I researched Dragon Naturally Speaking it is one of the computer\ technological systems. Dragon Naturally Speaking is a system that is speech recognition system.

The Future, Hologram or Not?

The technology that I explained in my presentation was the use of holographic imagery on ESPN. The use of this technology is going to be very useful in the future. Interviews with people will be a lot easier. They will not have to go to the studio more than likely, all they would have to do would be videoed once and it could be hologramed out and no matter how many times they needed to be interviewed they could use the single hologram. The use of this is greatly increasing the quality of shows such as ESPN. Being able to see players run the play actually in the studio makes it a lot more understandable and easy to see than just showing a regular replay. This innovative format of entertainment has been greatly improved over the past year and it seems that it will keep progressing until the holograms look as real as actually having the person in the studio.

Simpler TV

This technology would be useful for older people that are interested in sports and such. it might be easier for them to see the play if it is hologramed out and broken down by the sports telecasters verses just seeing a simple replay. Eventually all of these replays will be converted to this 3D holographic method.

Affecting our lives

This technology will greatly affect our lives and how we live. Simple jobs such as the check out person at Walmart could be a hologram. Famous speakers who wanted to speak to different people would not have to travel to all the places that they wanted to talk they could just send a hologram to the place they wanted to talk. Newscasters on television could use these holograms if say they were sick they could just make a hologram of that days news and they would not have to bring in someone to fill in for them like they have to do now. It would make there lives easier.

In the political world holograms could greatly impact the way they do things also. In the political world such as in elections, people go out and try to promote there running. If they had holograms, instead of sticking signs in the ground in all the places they can get to they could send holograms to be played in all of the towns where they were trying to earn votes. They could reach a wider audience therefore bringing in more votes to there campaign. In big meetings that are held in our country, if one of our famous political leaders can not make it and needs to some how attend this meeting, they could have a hologram of him wired to wherever this individual may be. The person would still be at the meeting, just in holographic form.

Gestures, and your computer

The future of interacting with computers is growing very rapidly, most of the future of the computer looks as if it will be done using the hands and motions, not via a mouse. Whether you will be wearing gloves, such as the MIT Clown Gloves, or if you do everything without gloves, such as the Xbox Kinec t method, you will still be interacting with the computer through body motions. I believe that the first stage of that coming into modern day society is Bumptop for computers. The future of gesture based computing is looking very bright, all of the technology for this is going to be very advanced. The future of the computer monitor I think will soon move in the way that the 3D TVs are moving and I think that this technology will soon move to computers. This 3D computer should have a more real look and feel. It would make you feel as if you were in the website that you are exploring. Some innovations such as these are making the computer more advanced and they are making it more and more natural to use. Working the computer is now like second nature to a lot of the population. When we fully move to gesture based computing this group of people will increase more and more. The future may not be so far into the future after all. indeed.

Mgestyk (pronounced majestic) is a gesture based device that combines an affordable 3-D camera with a powerful software for hand gesture language processing. The camera captures small hand movements and transfers them into commands that control pretty much any Windows application. It also works without having to hold a remote or wear any special gloves. This software works for the simplest things like moving a mouse cursor or complicated things, like two-handed gestures for a Flight Simulator. The camera doesn’t detect anything behind a certain depth, so your annoying younger sibling doesn’t mess up what you are doing if they run behind you. This technology is practical, because it is easy to set up and you don’t have to worry about using a mouse!

This technology is important for many things on the computer. Because you don’t have to use a mouse, people can practice things that use certain hand gestures, such as, a flight simulator. It could also be used as a form of drivers ed. You could “drive” the simulated car, and practice certain things you need to get your license.

Any new technology can affect our culture and how we live. For example, when computers became popular not very many people had one in their home. Now, a majority of the population have more than one computer in their home. When cell phones first were created, they were mainly used for military purposes, but now even seven year old children have their own cell phone! As you can see, new technologies are very important to the changing culture. So, how will the Mgestyk change our way of life? Maybe, there will be no more computer mouses, because everyone will just use their hands. Computer programs might change to work with this software. It won’t be long before we found out how different our computers will be.

The Mgestyk may affect the political world, also. Voting booths may start using this software. Is this a good thing or a bad thing though? If you accidentally move your hand to the wrong spot, or if and older person that is unfamiliar with technology uses this, the wrong vote may be cast and the election could be thrown off by this. Candidates in an election may use this to campaign, too. They could have interactive websites that you would need this software to use. An older candidate may not know how to use this, which could affect him in the election. With the way technology is growing, there is not telling how the political world may be in a few years.

In the future, the Mgestyk could be so advanced that we would use a similar software for almost everything that we do. Not only would we use this for a computer mouse, but we might even use it for every day things. Instead of going to school every day, you could use this for an interactive virtual school. For science, you may dissect a frog using hand motions on the computer. In a home EC class, you would bake a cake in the virtual oven, by doing all the steps using certain motions. There may possibly even be a PE class where the software detects the motions of your whole body. Not only could this be used for school, but for jobs, also. An engineer could fix a car by doing motions that would transfer into motions a robot would do. A baker may do the motions to make a cake that would also transfer them to a robot. Maybe, the Mgestyk could get so far advanced that we could somehow use it to brush our teeth, or flush the toilet. Things that we do everyday with our hands, may someday be done by simple hand gestures. The effects of this may not be all good, though. By just doing small gestures to do virtually anything, could increase obesity and cause people to be very unhealthy. Children may not want to go out side and play anymore, but rather play with their computer inside. The effects of the Mgestyk maybe life changing, but it may not be life changing in a good way. When studying the world of new gesture based computing, the technology I found to be most interesting was MIT’s “Clown Gloves”. The gloves are designed with a unique, colorful pattern that computers are able to use in order to detect user’s hand motions. The technology has proved to be extremely useful for engineering students, for they are able to use this tool to examine parts of equipment by taking them apart and putting them back together. One would think that an inexpensive pair of latex gloves with a colored design on them would be a bit ridiculous. These particular gloves however have proved themselves to be very useful in many ways. Not only could the gloves aid engineers and engineering students, but the gloves could also be useful for doctors, scientists, and your everyday housewife. Doctors could definitely find the “Clown Gloves” useful when looking for a cure for a disease. The physicians could literally take examine the viruses more thoroughly with the help of the gloves. Scientists could use these gloves when researching a new species of animal or an undiscovered plant species. A housewife could use the MIT gloves when testing a new cleaning product or when wandering if a new soap would harm her family. The possibilities of these gloves are endless.

Being able to experience new things hands on is something everyone could use to his or her advantage. I feel as if the MIT “Clown Gloves” would affect the way we common people live by allowing us to get a total idea of something before investing in the product. This would affect our culture because consumers would be more cautious when buying a product instead of just buying something that appears to be useful. In our society today, people are not able to thoroughly examine a product before purchasing, therefore money is wasted. I believe these gloves would affect our government by allowing government authorities to create more sophisticated forms of technology to aid our society on the computer. Once again, instead of just seeing a form of technology on the outside, government officials would be able to create and personalize the product. In every scenario the gloves prove themselves helpful.

When examining the up and coming world of gesture based computing, the future seems to be very interactive. If I could predict what the future of technology holds, I would venture to say that our society will no longer need half of the items currently used in everyday life. Convergence is allowing many products to come together into one. For example, the Apple iPad is converting an iPod, an Amazon Kindle, a laptop style desktop, and a computer’s abilities and creating these items into one technology that is conveniently able to fit into one’s pocket or purse. Another example of the gesture based Computing age is the X-Box Kinect system. The Kinect system not only combines the usual X-Box gaming system, but also combines a video chat system, Internet, and a sophisticated gesture based computing abilities that allow user’s to control the game by simple movements. This new technology eliminates the annoyance of old school gaming controllers, the use of laptops, as well as the use of video chat systems such as Skype. The future of home automation systems is another new technology that proves my prediction that our new world will be very interactive. Home automation systems will allow a user to control everything in his or her house by using a simple command, such as a clap of the hands or speaking one word by mouth. Home automation systems take away the every-day chore of remembering to turn off electrical appliances. This technology also proves itself to be useful to our environment by enabling a user to save thousands of dollars in electrical bills. Among the many other new interactive technologies that will make our world much more interactive is the ability to test products using augmented reality technology. Users are able to take a paper cutout of a product and by using web cams, our society will be able to examine every aspect of a product before purchasing. This particular technology, eliminates the trouble of going to a store and weighing the options between two products, by allowing one to see the full idea of the product he or she is most interested.

By using all of the new and improved gesture based technologies, our world will be a much more interactive place where everyone is welcome.

Today, technology is playing a large roll in our society. We may not realize it, but new technologies are arriving everyday. For example, “Home Automation” is a significantly advanced technology. Home automation is a combination of a computer in your house, either to perform as a lighting system, air conditioner unit, or maybe even a music system. The home automation system might even take your phone calls, or work as a security system. This device may be used as a comfort system, because it is able to control lighting system based on occupancy and illuminance level. It saves energy by being easy to install, (thanks to wireless communication.) It may be used as a computer device since it is able to switch lights on and off, to make people assume that someone is home.

Why is this technology important?

Home automation is significant, because it changes the entire way our society works. For many years, families had to have a “home maker,” or someone to help keep the house running. Since we have “home automation,” we do not need a person staying at home. This technology may change many lives. Mothers may be able to go to work, and help provide more financial support, rather than having to stay home, or hire someone. Home automation is able to take care of most of the family needs. Home automation may change the way we live forever.

How will it impact culture and how we live?

This technology may impact our culture in many ways. For instance, people did not always have the chance to take care of the house, but now homes are able to take care of things themselves. Home automation is such an impact on our culture, since we are used to having to worry about our homes being robbed, but now, home automation is able to be used as a security system. I believe home automation will prevent many robberies and such.

How will it impact government and politics?

Home automation may impact our government in many ways. For instance, the government would probably be satisfied with not having to worry as much about home security systems. Since home automation may be used as a security system, the government may recommend every home to have the home automation system, since it benefits families in many ways.
By gathering information on many technological advances, I have realized that technology may change our lives in many ways. For example, if we all used the home automation system, we would have completely different housing systems. Home automation will benefit us in many ways. For instance home automation may control lighting systems, music, air conditioning and much more. Also, learning about other technologies such as the ipad,” I have learned that so many advances are appearing in our society everyday. The ipad is a significant change, since it is very thin, wireless, and does everything a computer does, and more! I researched the x.10. It was an amazing product, and it is a good example of where our future is headed. With the x.10 you can turn lights off, turn lights on, dim lights, turn fans, TVs, and basically anything electronic in your house on and off with out even moving. You just talk to your computer and it does it for you. You can also set your computer to things off a certain times. This is a great way to save energy and money. Also you don’t have to get out of bed and turn the lights off or the fan on or off, you can just tell the computer to do it, and stay in your comfortable position!! The x.10 is just one of the great new technological advances in our world.

The x.10 is very important now days because the majority of the people in our world live in poverty. The x.10 can help you save money. It can cut down your power bill dramatically. So many people are short of money and many people are cutting down on many things to save money. The x.10 would help with this tremendously. The x.10 could have a great impact on our future.

The x.10 will affect the government, I believe majorly. They will not like it because their money will be cut short. The power bills will be lower so people are not paying as much. Even though the government might get cut short on money as a whole it will help our society very much. There are always going to be disadvantages and advantages, but in this situation there are more advantages than disadvantages.

What I learned from my presentation

I learned very much from my presentation and researching the x.10. I learned the our future is changing dramatically and very fast. Before we know we it books will not even exist any more. It will be all computers and phones. The x.10 is just a baby step in to our future!!

Future of interacting with computers

I believe that in the near future everything will be run by computers. The x.10 is a great example of where our future is headed. If you can tell a computer to turn lights and other electronics on and off now, think about what we will be able to do in the near future. Soon there will be no remotes, no phones, and no ipods. All these things will be all in one. Instead of having a camera, a phone, and an ipod in your purse or pocket you will only have to carry is one electronic, and it will be everything in one. Not to mention you probably will not have to carry a laptop around either. That will be part of that one electronic device.

My Technology

The technology that did my slide share on was the >3-D baggage scanners\ . What this technology does is it lets the security guards at airports and such be able to see a 3-D image of the bag that they are scanning instead of just seeing a flat view. Also it will let them interact with the picture on the computer monitor by rotating the picture and being able to look at it from different angles. This is a simpler technology that is being invented but it will help with security purposes. This technology will become very useful in everyday use. There are many ways that this technology is important. One way that it is important is that it will help with people carrying on weapons on an airplane. This way they have a better view of the bag and can rotate it so they can see every nook and cranny to make sure it is safe.

The way it impacts out life

There are many ways that the 3-D baggage scanner will impact our culture and how we live. One way that it will impact us is that it will make it more safe to travel on airplanes. The reason for this is that the scanners will be able to catch more objects such as pistols and knifes, and by this it will make it safer for us to travel. Also another way that it will impact us is that we wont have to worry about the scanners putting something on the screen that looks like a weapon. This way, they will get a 3-D view of the bag and will recognize that it is not a weapon and move on.

The way it impacts the government

The Government and politics will also be effected by this in at least a few ways. One way is that a plane will be hijacked if they cannot get any weapons onto the plane. So then the government official buildings like the white house or the pentagon will not be threatened. If this does not happen then the government officials will not have to worry and stress about another plane getting hijacked and blowing up another few buildings. Also, it will ensure for travelers to be sure that when they get on a plane that they are not sitting beside a person with a bomb on his chest about to blow up that plane.

Augmented reality

There are going to be many ways that you are going to and will have to react to computers. One way is the new Xbox 360 kinect. This is kind of like the nintendo wii, but their are a few differences. One difference is that on the Wii you have to hold a controller, but on the Xbox 360 kinect you do not have to hold on to anything it just picks up your body movements. Also, if someone else wants to play they can walk up beside you for a few seconds and then the screen will split and they will pop up on the screen and they can play with you. Another one is the holographic laser projection technology. This combines a keyboard, a computer, and a projector all into one. This allows you to be able to carry a laptop in your pocket and when you want to you can just pop it out and set it on a flat surface and type on a computer. By having this you will not have to have a big bulky laptop with you, you can just carry a holographic projection system and it will do the same exact thing.

So easy, even a caveman can do it!

1. I did my presentation on the BMW augmented reality glasses. The glasses were super cool which made me like them the minute I saw the You Tube video. I was super excited for doing this presentation because it showed me what to expect of the future when it comes to glasses. The glasses that are used look like a pair of safety glasses that you would use for a chemistry lab. The trick is that they are not ordinary glasses. They have ear buds and when looking through the glasses it looks like you are looking a computer monitor that is transparent. The glasses help with mechanics who are working on cars. The glasses actually show you what you need to do to fix the car. The glasses also talk to you, and when you want to go to the next step all you have to say is “next step.” This can help when your hands are full and you cant turn the page of the manual you are using or look on the computer for help. The glasses show what is wrong and the problem is fixed within a few minutes just by paying attention to what you are being told to do by the glasses. I hope you enjoy my presentation.

2. This technology is important because it could be the future of mechanics and repairing vehicles. It could save a lot of time and effort. When repairing a car or truck you have to make sure everything is perfect or the customer will not be happy. That is why the glasses would be a good thing to have.

3. A) The glasses can impact our culture and how we live in many ways. One thing is that the people could start getting lazy when it comes to fixing the cars because they think it is so easy. The glasses could also put people out of their jobs because the glasses could be used by everyday people making us not need mechanics. Other things are also being made for the future and soon we may not use cars and that would make the glasses a bust for fixing cars. The glasses could affect our culture by making everyone depend on technology for help.

B) The glasses can help with many things but I do not think that it can effect our government and politics. The glasses are used for mechanics. Maybe some members of congress have an engine problem, they would then be able to put the glasses on a fix the problem. Throughout that process they probably would not even get their clothes dirty because they glasses make everything quick and easy. The glasses could also have the same effect for politics. When a person is campaigning and they are driving across the country and suddenly their car stops. The glasses are able to help you fix the car if you are stranded in the middle of nowhere.

4. I know that in the future there will be many different kinds of technology. When the augmented reality combines with computers there will be a huge difference.There will be more virtual interactions with people while sitting in your own living room. Each of my classmates did a presentation on augmented reality products and each of them showed me what the future should be like. One of the presentations was on a camera that you could try out in you home by using the computer. All you would have to do would be to hold a piece of paper up to the computer and you could try it out by using a virtual camera. This could help when people want to do online shopping. They could try the product out before they buy it. There is also the Bumptop which can help you sort out all of your files in your computer and look at them also. Also, the Mgestyk 3D control would help people who are using the computer. You would be able to control the computer just by doing hand motions. You could even learn how to fly a plane while using this device. This could help people who are in flight school do a real stimulation with the computer.

A New Way to Play

(1) The Mgestyk 3D Camera is a new gaming system that uses no remotes just your hands. This camera combines the technology of a a computer, an eye toy, itunes, and you. With this camera you can drive a car, shoot a gun, or select music all on your tv. A good tribute of this camera is if your younger brother or sister walk in front of you it still want mess up your game. The camera also works just as good in the dark as it does in the daytime. You can also play two player with someone with another camera and can battle your friends. This is a new way to play and looks more fun then playing with a controller.

(2)Technology controls and runs the world today, and with out it nothing would be the same. Today everyone has a cell phone, ipod, or some handheld electrical device and with out it your day to day life would change completely.

A) Our culture today is centered around technology and the advancement of it. Every day we use some type of technology that gets us through our day easier and organized. Almost every person in the United States gets on a computer every day, and most of them do not know to work it properly and safely. Many people are getting new jobs do to new technologies that are used all around the world. The United States is controlled by technology and controlled by computers, which brings a higher demand for computer programmers and designers . In today's society technology is an important and growing network.

B) In today's government all of the senators, governors and even president are on the Internet. They use it for advertisement and to get the word out of what they believe and are trying to do in the country. Most of the government is on the web and most of the work that goes on, you can find on the Internet.
This also can cause a trouble, because with today's technologies in people can put a fake picture of anyone and use it in a bad way. Politicians also have to be careful of what they put on the Internet because if they put or say anything bad on it, it can be sent all around the country in minutes. Many scandals have broken out over the Internet and have cause huge problems for politicians. Today's technology can help advertise for somebody, but it can also bring them down.

A New World with Technology

(4) With this new technology it will change the lay out of our homes and rooms. With the need of more room around tvs the living room will be changed dramatically. There will be no need for a coffee table, and couches will have to be rearranged to be in front of the tv. Even with all these changes they will be for the better. There will be no need for remotes for every thing you have, and all you need is your hands. Another good thing is with the advancement in 3D cameras we can now practice how to drive a car on the computer. So now teens can practice more and will feel more comfortable when they get on the road. This also can help for pilots who are learning to fly to learn all the controls in a real life situation. This will save gas and be more safe for new pilots. With all these new technologies coming out everyday there is an endless list of improvements of everyday life.

Where will technology fly next?

The technology I presented was a new technology called Terrafugia. Terrafugia is a simple convergence of a car and an airplane. This device was engineered from MIT-trained engineers. It can run on the road and can fly in the air. It has many advantages. On the highway, it gets thirty-five miles per gallon. It can transition from car to plan in thirty seconds. It can fit in a regular garage. Terrafugia is planning on selling their technology in 2011. The purchase price is $194,000. With this technology, one could drive to an airstrip and take off into the air without even getting out of the car. This will definitely change the future of transportation. This technology is important, because people will get places quicker. Instead of spending so much money on airline tickets and standing in long security lines, people will be able to transition their car into an airplane in as little as thirty seconds.

Even though there are cars and airplanes now, this technology will still change our culture and the way we live. Transportation is a factor that is important in our society today. This technology can change the convenience of airplanes. In 2011, Terrafugias are hoping to sell cheaper, so more people will be able to afford one. Once more people purchase them, they will become easier to use because there will not be the hassle of finding an airstrip to take off on because more will be built. People will be traveling to further places more because of this convenience also.

Government and politics will definitely be affected by this new device. It will be used for military purposes. It will be much easier because they will not have to be exposed just to change vehicles. They will be able to just drive and fly without becoming open for target. Government and politics personnel can use it to transport people such as the President. It will also be a much cheaper way, because of the gas mileage it gets and instead of owning a plane and many cars, people will just own one. Terrafugia will be a much safer alternative for transportation.
Technology is a quickly changing factor in our lives and it always has been. Today there are many new technologies that some people can not even fathom the idea of it actually happening. Not to mention that people could actually see how it works. There are 3-D TVs that are making people nauseous just to watch. Just by wearing a pair of glasses, it seems that there are objects coming out of the screen towards the watcher. Holography is a big fad now also. People will actually be able to see a person with their real life features just by holography. Newscasters and sports channels will be able to show the occurrence and make it look like they are there or that they are playing on the field with them. There is also a new technology that is 3-D scanning. In airports, security will be able to see everything one has in 3-D which will a lot clearer to see. Inventions for homes are popular now. These inventions are a lot like robots. One can program to have the lights at a certain lighting and the air conditioning at a certain temperature for the exact time when they get home. As anyone can see, technology has come a long way and does not seem to be stopping any time soon.

Kinect The Future of Gaming

The Technology

My technology was the Xbox 360 Kinect. Kinect is completely gestured based and is used to play video games in a new way. Video games played with Kinect are entirely motion based. The camera on the Kinect will capture the players movement and make the avatar do the same motion. Also in some games if another person wants to play a game and someone is already playing all the other person has to do is stand in front of the camera long enough for it to register him or her and the game will automatically go to spilt-screen.

The first game to show the ability to go to split screen was Kinect Adventures which is just a bunch of mini games where the object is to get as many pins as possible before the game ends. During Kinect Adventures a camera will take the player’s or players’ picture and then it can upload the photos directly to Facebook.

This technology is important because it is the first example of of gesture based computing that will be available to the public. Kinect had already showed the ability to mix the real world with virtual world when it was called Project Natal with the boy Milo who was able to interact with people as if he was a real person.

The Future of Gaming

Kinect will be one of the first gestured based devices that will be available to almost everyone. It will probably change the way people decorate their houses to give them enough room to move around and do the motions that Kinect requires. Kinect will also revolutionize the way people play games. So instead of using a controller the person’s body will act as the controller being able to use movements to do actions in game. Kinect also allows people to do video calls with other people with Kinect’s camera. During the video chats people can give each other things, whether be something like a photo, or a gift for a person’s avatar.

If Kinect has already eliminated the need for a controller to play video games, how much longer would it be before everything else is using the same concept? Some time in the future everybody will be using some type of gestured based or voice activated computing in their daily lives.

Who knows maybe someday the politicians could be able to stream and entire speech, and all they had to do to set it up was perform a few hand motions. While this would probably will not be done with a video game system, Kinect could inspired, or have been inspired by, similar technologies that can be used for the same purpose.

The Risk

With Kinect being the first completely gesture based video game system, Microsoft has taken a big risk with it. Will people be want buy something that they haven’t seen done before? Depending on whether or not people really get into this will determine how fast move in to a time where everything is gesture based. Soon people will be able to use a computer with out the need for a mouse or even a physical keyboard.

Impact

Soon people will be using computers in a different way. Instead of using a mouse and keyboard to operate a computer people will be able to use a computer using motion control. Instead of using Instant Messaging or Email to communicate with other people will probably be able to use live video chat to talk to friends and share things like videos and pictures by dragging them into the window.

Another thing that will change with our interaction with computer is voice activation. Right now there are some simple voice activation software is available but there are some bugs with them that have to be worked out like sound interference. An example of voice activated programing is Dragon Naturally Speaking which is one of the first voice activation programs made.

Technology in the home is evolving. We have an image of a super smart homethat responds to the way we live, but also helps us evolve into the future. Many gadgets have been made to make life at home easier. Some of these gadgets include the DoorBell Fon and the Digital Nutrition Scale. The DoorBell Fon gives homeowners a way to answer the door with out going to the door itself. It combines your telephone with your doorbell. When someone rings the doorbell, a personalized tone plays and you simply answer the phone to talk to the person at the door. With the Digital Nutrition Scale, you place your selected food item on the scale and it will give you the nutrition information just like the item’s container would.

The Importance...

The importance of these technologies is that improvements in the home are being made. It is not something that we have to wait on to happen. It is happening right now. These simple convergences show us that much bigger ideas can come to life.

How Will It Affect...

The future of technology in general will affect our culture and how we live in a positive way. We as humans are always out on the prowl for the next greatest thing in life. With convergence, we have the opportunity to create things that make life easier and fun. Our culture will become more and more dependent on the technologies that we create to replace the old way of life. We will be broadened, in that we will have connections with the world. Our way of life is not going to poof over night, but it is being altered as we speak. Slowly but surely we are shaping the ways of tomorrow.

The Impact on the Government and Politics...

The impact on the government will be big. All areas of our government will have to alter rules and laws. The new technologies coming into being, are changing the way we live, which ultimately changes the way our law enforcers live. They will also need new technologies so that they will be able to keep up with the citizens of our changing world. Politics is another area that will be affected. Campaigns and businesses will compete with the latest and greatest of technologies so that they can be the ones on top. The way that politics are will be changed as well. The whole political dynamic will have to converge with the changing planet. We can see these changes happening everyday. The government will have to be in the know or mayhem may occur.

Our Interaction with Computers...

Interaction with our laptops and computers has been around from the beginning. For instance, gaming systems are changing to allow the gamer to be the controller. Programs like this include the XBOX 360 Kinect. With this gaming system you become the controller and can move about in an open area to play as yourself in the game itself. Another major part of the way we use our computer and other devices is the use of Virtual Reality. Examples of virtual reality are being used for advertisement purposes. Olympus has a way for you to try out their cameras by simply printing out a picture of the camera and placing it in front of your webcam. It then allows you to take pictures and video just like you would with the actual camera. Other ways virtual reality is coming more into our life is with QR Codes. Basically these barcode-like patterns link you to websites that pertain to the advertisement or program the code is attached to. These are mainly found in magazines and catalogs. Technology will take us as far as we are willing to take risks and work out the kinks to make them the better than they can be. Our interaction with computers will eventually become a part of everything we do. Even the simple daily tasks will have be connected to our computer.
